We probably would have stayed longer at Mayreau had we not run out of cash and water, so we had no choice but to head to Union Island to restock and clear out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Union Island has become the kite boarding center of the windward islands, and because of that its reputation for sketchy activities and nefarious characters has improved, we decided to stay the night tied up at Anchorage Yacht Club in the main town of Clifton Harbor.
Just south of the yacht club, a short dinghy ride away, is what must be the coolest happy hour bar around, Happy Island. The bar sits on a foundation of discarded conch shells leftover by fisherman who scooped out the tasty morsel inside and left the shell as waste. The bar spans the island and is surrounded by shallow, crystal clear water that invites you to bask while you drink your rum punch.
We're getting close to the end of our 10 day sail from St. Lucia and I can sense the adult discontent at having to go back and deal with the real world. At least the teens are pretty excited about having unfettered access to WiFi again! We cleared out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines using a little bit of cash and no drama and prepped for our sail to my favorite country of Grenada tomorrow! Oh, as I mentioned....they're ALL my favorites!!
